AI Engineering, Intern (Dubai / Riyadh)

Team Context

Role Overview

Generative AI Engineering

• Contribute to GenAI applications such as copilots, workflow automation, and decision support using modern LLM stacks.
• Support RAG, fine-tuning, parameter-efficient tuning, embedding optimization, and hybrid retrieval.
• Assist with tool use, function calling, orchestration, context engineering, memory, and state management.

Development and Evaluation

• Support model experimentation, evaluation design, production deployment, and end-to-end ML solution development.
• Write clean, testable code and contribute to APIs and services through the full software development lifecycle.
• Build evaluation and observability components including regression tests, automated scoring, and prompt or policy iteration loops.
• Support responsible AI practices including guardrails, fallbacks, and human-in-the-loop workflows.

Machine Learning

• Contribute to data preparation, feature engineering, model selection, training, validation, testing, and performance analysis.
• Apply classical machine learning and deep learning methods and develop knowledge of transformers and LLM concepts.
• Develop reusable evaluation harnesses and components that scale across client contexts.

Collaboration and Communication

• Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teammates to build reliable AI systems.
• Communicate in working sessions, demos, and documentation with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support client discussions and documentation as part of broader engagement teams.

About You

• Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in CS, ML, AI, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 0–2+ years of AI or ML engineering experience, including equivalent internships, research, academic projects, or open-source work.
• Strong academic performance or demonstrated excellence through research, projects, internships, competitions, or open-source contributions.
• Proficiency in Python and experience building APIs or services such as REST or gRPC.
• Experience building complex, multi-stack generative AI programs from conception through production.
• Exposure to retrieval and search systems and structured and unstructured data stores.
• Exposure to agentic patterns; hands-on experience is preferred.
• Strong practices in testing, code review, version control, CI/CD, and performance profiling.
• English and Arabic fluency are required.

Working Model and Travel

• The role requires at least three days per week working together in person at a client location or Bain home office.
• Travel may be required beyond the home office or primary working location depending on project needs.
