What You'll Do

• Build and own LLM-powered chat, conversational, content understanding, and recommendation features on a NestJS and TypeScript backend.
• Own orchestration, tool calling, memory, evaluation, and reliability for LLM interfaces and multi-step pipelines.
• Choose and route proprietary and open-source models based on quality, latency, and cost.
• Develop RAG systems with embeddings, Qdrant vector search, and hybrid Elasticsearch and MongoDB retrieval.
• Improve production performance through streaming, caching, token budgets, Redis session state, SQS processing, and observability.
• Build automated tests and LLM evaluation tooling using real user queries and metrics for relevance, quality, and groundedness.
• Convert product insights into AI features in collaboration with the founder, backend engineers, and product team.

What We're Looking For

• At least 1.5 years of software engineering experience with strong TypeScript and Node.js skills; NestJS is preferred.
• At least one LLM-powered feature must have been shipped to production.
• Hands-on experience with Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, or another major LLM API, including prompts, structured outputs, tool calling, and streaming.
• Working knowledge of embeddings, vector search, and RAG patterns.
• Production experience with MongoDB, Elasticsearch, or Redis.
• Strong product sense and ability to balance response quality, latency, and cost.
