GitLab is hiring an AI Engineer to build the foundation for its transformation into an AI-first company.
The role is a hands-on technical leadership position focused on internal AI-powered solutions and measurable business outcomes.
Initial work spans Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support in a remote, asynchronous environment.
What you'll do
- Diagnose business problems, map workflows, identify constraints, and determine whether AI is the right intervention.
- Own AI initiatives end to end from discovery and technical design through implementation, deployment, and iteration.
- Design and ship practical AI-powered solutions and prototypes with measurable business value.
- Build solutions that reduce bottlenecks, shorten lead times, increase throughput, and improve organizational flow.
- Integrate AI into existing systems and workflows using APIs, orchestration tools, modern AI platforms, custom code, or prompts.
- Partner with stakeholders across functions and align technical work with shared business outcomes.
- Define success using business metrics, flow metrics, adoption, return on investment, and feedback loops.
- Evaluate tools, document patterns, and create reusable technical foundations.
