Role overview

SIXT is seeking a senior data engineer for its central Business Intelligence team.

The role shapes the SIXT Data Platform through automation, AI-powered self-service, and real-time machine learning capabilities.

The position includes a hybrid work environment with flexible working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Implement AWS and big data technologies and build integrations for the SIXT Data Shop.
  • Architect solutions for dashboarding, ad hoc analytics, data-as-a-product, and machine learning.
  • Contribute to the Data Platform vision and roadmap.
  • Design multi-agent workflows covering ingestion, transformation, quality validation, and distribution.
  • Define specifications, acceptance criteria, and quality gates for reliable agent execution.
  • Drive LLM-augmented capabilities, including RAG pipelines, semantic search, and AI-assisted self-service.

Education and experience

  • Hold a B.Tech, B.E., master’s degree in computer science, or a similar qualification.
  • Bring at least 7 years of professional experience as a senior data engineer.
  • Have experience with hybrid data lake and data warehouse architectures.
  • Automate data models from source systems to analytical dashboards using ELT methodologies.

Technical skills

  • Have deep expertise with Redshift or Snowflake, dbt, and Apache Airflow.
  • Have hands-on experience with AI coding assistants, contextual LLM data, RAG systems, and LLM-driven agents.
  • Understand agile methods, code reviews, GitHub, CI/CD, Jenkins, testing, operations, distributed systems, and data management.
  • Have advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Experience with vector or graph databases is a strong plus.
