Role overview

Architectural leadership

• Own Architectural Decision Records for significant design decisions and retain their rationale, context, and consequences.
• Participate in the Architecture Review Board and apply Light & Wonder architectural standards across platform portfolios.
• Define architecture patterns, integration contracts, and non-functional requirements across the Nova platform and adjacent systems.
• Contribute to the Tech Atlas, Asset Registry, and architecture governance artefacts.
• Lead STRIDE and Threagile threat modeling exercises and translate findings into security requirements.

Technical design and delivery

• Produce solution designs covering C4 context, container, component, and sequence-level detail for direct engineering implementation.
• Design and evolve RESTful and event-driven APIs with OpenAPI contracts.
• Architect integrations with payment providers, identity services, regulatory reporting endpoints, and operator platforms.
• Govern CI/CD pipeline design, environment architecture, and deployment strategies using GitHub Actions, Kustomize, and ArgoCD.
• Develop prototypes and proofs of concept when needed to reduce architectural risk.

Quality and collaboration

• Define performance, resilience, observability, and security standards and contribute to load testing design.
• Establish coding and integration standards across Java and Spring services and support Security Champions and DevSecOps adoption.
• Mentor architects and engineers, communicate technical positions to business and technical stakeholders, and align engineering teams.
• Participate in hiring and technical assessment processes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or demonstrably equivalent experience.
• At least 7 years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in an explicit architecture role.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot experience designing cloud-native microservices at scale.
• Experience with event-driven systems, Kafka or equivalent messaging platforms, API gateways, and federated API management.
• Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments and in architecture governance processes.
• Ability to produce C4 diagrams, ADRs, threat models, and non-functional requirement matrices independently.
• AWS, Azure, or GCP certifications are valued but do not replace practical architecture experience.
