Responsibilities
- Respond to and evaluate acute stroke alerts/stroke codes
- Perform comprehensive neurological assessments
- Assist with thrombolytic eligibility evaluation and thrombectomy triage
- Manage general stroke consults across inpatient units and emergency department
- Perform procedures including lumbar puncture/drain placement
- Manage critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients in the neuro ICU
- Perform daily rounding, assessments, care plan development in collaboration with neurointensivists
- Manage patients with conditions including ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, status epilepticus and post operative neurosurgical care

- Perform procedures including arterial lines, central venous catheters, EVD management, ventilator management, intubation, lumbar puncture/drain placement

Position Overview
- We are seeking highly motivated and clinically skilled Advanced Practice Providers (NP or PA) to join our neuroscience team. There are multiple positions including Inpatient Stroke Neurology or Neurocritical Care Unit (Neuro ICU).
Qualifications
- Board certification and valid state licensure as Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care) or Physician Assistant (PA)
Ideal Candidate
- Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment
- Neurology or critical care experience preferred but not required, we will train the right candidate
- Ability to work autonomously and efficiently in high pressure environment
Inpatient Stroke Neurology APP Responsibilities
- Respond to and evaluate acute stroke alerts/stroke codes
- Perform comprehensive neurological assessments
- Assist with thrombolytic eligibility evaluation and thrombectomy triage
- Manage general stroke consults across inpatient units and emergency department
- Procedures including: lumbar puncture/drain placement
- Anticipate transition to primary stroke service in 2027 which will include admission and discharge to hospital, care coordination and multidisciplinary rounding
Neurocritical Care (Neuro ICU) APP Responsibilities
- Manage critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients in the neuro ICU
- Perform daily rounding, assessments, care plan development in collaboration with neurointensivists
- Manage patients with conditions including ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, status epilepticus and post operative neurosurgical care
- Responsible for ICU admissions, transfers and discharges
- Procedures including: arterial lines, central venous catheters, EVD management, ventilator management, intubation, lumbar puncture/drain placement
Schedule & Flexibility for ICU & Stroke Positions
- All APPs within Stroke & ICU teams join the team as day/night rotators to maintain scheduling equity and cross coverage expertise.
- Most new hires begin a predominantly night based schedule, which offers: Reduced monthly shift requirement (10 shifts in a 4 week schedule period compared to 12), Night shift differential compensation, High acuity learning and clinical autonomy opportunities.
- As providers gain seniority within the team, they gain increased flexibility in schedule preferences and rotation distribution.
