The Accounting Lead will establish and lead a robust local accounting function.

Governance and Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, workflows, approval authorities, and internal controls aligned with local and group requirements.
- Assess control risks, gaps, and inefficiencies, then lead approved improvement initiatives through implementation and adoption.
- Establish process ownership, segregation of duties, review standards, and evidence requirements.
- Monitor adherence, investigate recurring exceptions, and ensure corrective actions are embedded.
Reporting and Decision Support
- Prepare timely financial statements, management reports, accounting analyses, and group reporting submissions.
- Analyse financial performance, costs, cash position, working capital, balance-sheet exposures, compliance matters, and unusual transactions.
- Translate accounting information into insights, risks, and recommendations for management decisions and forward planning.
- Provide Scopely and management stakeholders with relevant information on emerging issues and required actions.
Incentives and Group Alignment
- Own accounting for government and other incentive programs, including recognition, accruals, booking, and presentation.
- Maintain audit-ready trackers for applications, approvals, claims, conditions, receipts, and outstanding balances.
- Reconcile incentive balances, receipts, qualifying expenditure, and related accounting impacts.
- Align local close, reporting, accounting treatments, controls, and audit requirements with group expectations and local regulations.
Accounting Operations and Compliance
- Oversee the general ledger, journals, accruals, prepayments, provisions, allocations, and monthly, quarterly, and annual close timetables.
- Review balance-sheet reconciliations, account substantiation, the chart of accounts, and aged or unreconciled items.
- Oversee sales invoicing, customer balances, accounts payable, vendor reconciliations, and payment preparation.
- Coordinate VAT, withholding tax, corporate income tax, transfer pricing, statutory filings, audits, and remediation actions.
Advisory and Stakeholder Management
- Advise management, employees, and process owners on finance procedures, procurement, invoicing, payments, approvals, and compliance.
- Partner with Commercial, Sales, Procurement, Operations, HR, Payroll, and IT to resolve accounting issues and embed controls.
- Manage relationships with tax advisors, internal and external auditors, professional service providers, and group teams.
- Communicate policy and regulatory changes and escalate significant non-compliance, control failures, or financial risks.
ERP and Finance Transformation
- Act as the principal accounting representative during ERP design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-implementation stabilization.
- Define the chart of accounts, financial dimensions, workflows, user roles, approval controls, and reporting requirements.
- Lead validation and reconciliation of migrated master data, historical information, and opening balances.
- Coordinate finance user acceptance testing and resolve defects before go-live.
In-House Transition
- Develop and execute a transition plan covering processes, roles, documentation, data, reconciliations, controls, system dependencies, and cutover activities.
- Establish internal ownership, service expectations, standard operating procedures, review controls, and acceptance criteria for transferred activities.
- Manage transition risks, handovers, parallel runs, and post-transition support for close, tax, invoicing, payments, and reporting.
- Coordinate shared-service partners, group teams, stakeholders, advisors, auditors, and the ERP implementation team.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- ACCA, CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Progressive experience leading accounting, close, reporting, compliance, controls, and advisory or improvement activities.
- Sound knowledge of local accounting and statutory requirements and experience with multinational or shared-service environments.
- Knowledge of VAT, withholding tax, corporate income tax, and transfer pricing.
- Incentives or grants accounting experience is highly desirable.
- Experience with ERP, finance transformation, data migration, or outsourced-to-in-house transitions.
- Strong Excel and finance systems skills, with credibility to advise management and manage stakeholders.
