Job Description

The Academic Registrar is responsible for the administration of the student journey at Global College Malta.

Reporting directly to the Academic Dean and working closely with the College’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), they lead and manage the College’s academic administration team.

They ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and provide effective systems and processes to support the student journey from admission to graduation.

They support the Academic Dean, and as necessary the Chief Operating Officer, in providing strategic leadership for the College and ensure its academic excellence, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the College’s academic administration functions to ensure an excellent student journey, including enrolment, student records, timetabling, assessment, and graduation.
  • Ensure that the College’s academic regulations as well as student-facing policies and procedures are effectively implemented and regularly reviewed. As appropriate, provide professional advice and guidance on regulations, policy and procedures to staff and students.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained for all students, and lead on data collection and analysis to support strategic decision-making. Ensure that the College operates effective systems for managing student assessment, progression, and the granting of awards.
  • Support the Academic Dean and Deputy Dean in ensuring their responsibilities regarding quality assurance, standards and enhancement are effectively discharged. This will include managing associated processes such as programme validation, programme management, annual and periodic programme review.
  • Support the Academic Dean and Deputy Dean in ensuring their responsibilities regarding compliance with regulatory bodies are effectively discharged. This will include the provision of information and data, support for audits, accreditations and inspections, and the management of any related action plans.
  • Participate in relevant College governance structures, including servicing committees and preparing data, reports and presentations, as required.
  • To support the COO in promoting interdepartmental cooperation, ensuring effective coordination between academic provision, administrative services, and student support structures.
  • Recruit, manage and develop staff within the academic administration department, supporting professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Providing professional advice and guidance to support the development and growth of the College, including for Admissions, Student Life, and Portfolio and Partnership Development.
  • Supporting a culture of open and clear communication, continuous improvement and staff professional development within the College. Promoting a student-centric approach as well as the values of integrity, inclusivity and internationalisation in all aspects of College life amongst students and staff.
  • Any other duty as may reasonably be required.

Person Specification

· Education: A degree in a relevant field like education, business, or administration is required at a minimum.

Preference is given to candidates with a master’s degree or another advanced qualification in higher education administration.

· Higher Education Experience: Significant experience in higher education, with a proven track record in academic administration, student services, and quality assurance, is crucial.

· Sector Knowledge:An understanding of the Maltese higher education sector, including the regulatory framework, quality assurance processes, and relationships with professional and regulatory bodies, is important.

· Leadership and Management: Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, foster a high-performance culture, and inspire others to achieve strategic goals.

· Strategic Thinking: The ability to develop and oversee strategies for the College’s Academic Team that align with the College’s broader strategic objectives.

· Communication:Good oral and written communication skills are required for effective engagement with a wide range of stakeholders.

· Analytical and Numeracy Skills: Strong analytical capabilities and a high level of numeracy are necessary for interpreting data and statistical information to support the College’s day-to-day operations and strategic planning.

· Digital Literacy:Proficiency with digital technologies, student information systems, and databases is expected.

· Organisational Skills:Good organisational and administrative skills with a high degree of attention to detail are vital for managing academic records and processes.
