Responsibilities

  • Assist the 1st WK Electrical Engineer in daily operations and maintenance of electrical systems onboard the dredger.
  • Perform routine inspections and tests to identify potential issues and ensure the reliability of electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical system performance and repairs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate electrical systems with other onboard equipment and processes.
  • Monitor and optimize energy consumption, implementing energy-efficient practices to reduce costs and environmental impact.
  • Train and supervise junior electrical engineers or technicians, ensuring a skilled and competent team.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering and incorporate innovative solutions when appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures, promoting a safe working environment onboard the dredger.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the marine or dredging industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, and control systems.
  • Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment, such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as IEC and NEC.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work onboard a dredger and adapt to the unique challenges of marine operations.
  • Valid certifications or licenses related to electrical engineering, such as a Professional Engineer (PE) license, are preferred.
