CIBC is hiring a 2027 Summer Software Engineering Intern.
The intern will support secure, reliable, and innovative technology solutions for clients and the business.
What you'll be doing
- Develop, code, test, and debug applications and system enhancements across the software development life cycle.
- Participate in technical design, development, and integration activities across platforms.
- Collaborate with technology and business partners to identify issues and support effective solutions.
- Gain exposure to banking products, services, regulatory requirements, and core systems.
- Complete training and apply learning to daily work.
How you'll succeed
- Support software development, testing, debugging, and application management activities.
- Partner with technology and business teams on cross-functional, multi-platform applications.
- Review programming systems, identify issues, and help implement quality solutions.
- Support regulatory, information security, and internal policy requirements.
- Participate in training, mentorship, community outreach, and leadership development.
Who you are
- Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date is between December 2026 and June 2027.
- Foundational knowledge of the software development life cycle, Oracle, SQL, batch processing, FTP, SFTP, and firewalls.
- Programming experience such as Python and willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence or security tools and concepts is considered an asset.
- Clear communication and effective collaboration in a dynamic environment.
Work arrangement
- The proportion of on-site and remote work will be discussed during the interview.
Compensation
- Expected hourly rate is $36 to $40 per hour for the Illinois market, based on experience, qualifications, and location.
